Does it matter? Like I think it only set baseline difficulty for all missions in region and as HQ is swarming already at base. Recommend you have a second squad prepared to hit the HQ immediately after, because ADVENT strength level will begin rising dramatically after crashing the signal tower. Not good generalship at all.Originally posted by Včelí medvídek:iirc it is just mission in chain to attack local HQ? Like capture signal tower I think. Three sectopods charging you looks pretty scary, especially with shielded muton elites behind them they even had a shiedbearer who shielded the damned sectopods! Sheesh!īut as it turned out, we had enough AOE attacks to pretty much decimate everything that entered the killing field once we stripped their energy shields away, pretty much every hit from a plasma weapon did a rupture, and every sectopod that blew up did more damage to it's support troops. Now that I think about it, it was probably a poor tactical decision on the part of the AI to send in all those troops in waves into a relatively confined area. Lastly, my psi-op not only has killer mental skills, she's wearing a WAR suit with a shredder cannon, just to be even more badass. Sharpshooter has all the good stuff, with talon rounds and elite laser sight on his plasma lance. Two OW rangers with plasma rifles and shredder armor are the sectopod & gatekeeper killers, my speicalist has a mark III gremlin and advanced hacking PCS, and capacitor discharge for crowd control. Technical has blaster gauntlet, shinobi has fusion blade, wraith armor and haz-mat vest, and has reaper, whirlwind and concealment perks. My grenadier has full kit with 3 sting grenades, 2 incendiary bombs and an EMP bomb. Well, I picked my troop selection carefully. I need a lunch break to get those sugar and caffeine levels back up. mostly my psi-op, getting her Null Lance and Void Rift back in order, but also my sharpshooter's deadeye and precision shot, my shinobi going back into concealment, and of course, everybody reloading. And since there was no hurry once the initial swarm was defeated, we just laid up while those abilities that needed recharging. There is no reinforcement timetable no RFFs dropping in. My shinobi has just spotted full pod of 4 MECs, accompanied by the usual gang of supporting trooper scum. After 2 hours of combat, I had to take a break. Three soldiers took significant wounds, though my specialist bandaged them up. Even my shinobi reapered some stupid psi-zombies Basically we had to pull out all the stops. Sharpshooter cleaned up with lightning hands followed by a double tap on the two surviving sectopods. Specialist also popped off a capacitor discharge. Let me tell you, when powered by an advanced psi-offense PCS and an alien Psi-amp, that thing does a hella lotta damage. A blaster bomb from my Technical did some nice damage, while my psi-op mint controlled the berserker and then uncorked a void rift. Two rangers blew the crap out of one sectopod, while an EMP bomb shut down the other two for a turn. However, my A-Team troops proved equal to the task. The fact that they were accompanied by a sectoid commander, three muton elites, some vipers, a berserker and 5 troopers just added to the fun. In fact, they came at us in unending waves all we could do was dig in and clobber them as they closed.Īnd I saw a first! An entire pod of Sectopods! Three of them appeared all together, closing in as a group. With Advent troops packed so densely, it was impossible to isolate just one pod. led by a Colonel.Īnd holy crud! When they said heavy opposition, they weren't kidding. including my psi-op Master with his Alien psi-amp. I had the best guys possible 7 master Sgt. As t was, I opted to fight the actual troop convoy, using the standard 8 man squad for a convoy raid, despite the crappy infiltration time. Well, I if I had fought the actual invasion, I probably would have been in trouble, although I would have had 11 soldiers to fight them off.
